What is Myopia Management?
Myopia management is a multifaceted process that starts with knowing that your child has myopia. Routine eye examinations are important not just for checking the vision, but to ensure your child's health. The earlier intervention begins, the better outcomes are shown to be.
The next step is determining what is the best course of treatment. Previously, the only correction available was glasses or contact lenses that were unable to prevent the progression of myopia year to year. However, now there are many different treatments available and on the way! One treatment is the use of pharmaceuticals that have been shown to slow the progression of myopia. Another is the use of rigid contact lenses that reshape the front surface of the eye to actively change the vision. A treatment on the way is specialty glasses that specifically bend light to slow the progression of myopia. Finally, there is a new exciting treatment in the form of an easy-to-use daily contact lens!
What is MiSight?
MiSight is a daily contact lens that is specifically designed and FDA approved to slow the progression of myopia, and in many cases, halting it altogether! It has been rigorously studied to ensure it is effective, comfortable, and above all safe for your child. It is approved for children as young as 8 years old and our staff will work with you and your child to give them the best chance for success.
